• How long it will take repigmentation to start?
The benefits may be visible in a fortnight in quick responders, but generally it takes 2-6 months. The process is faster in disease of recent onset and slower if the disease is longstanding. Another factor that affects the rate of pigmentation is the site of involvement. The process is faster if the disease affects face, neck, chest, abdomen, upper arms, thighs, inguinal and perianal regions. It is generally slow in case of hands, forearms, feet and calves; where it may take as long as six months to be visible.

It has also been observed that the process of healing is faster in people with a darker complexion than fairer individuals.

• How long will the spots stay pigmented?
No cases of loss of pigment have yet been reported after initial success with DermaTint™ .

• How can I predict the appearance of new white patches?
Yes it is possible to predict using wood lamp test and started anticipatory treatment. Click here for details.

• Do I need to do any thing else, other than applying the oil?
You do not necessarily need to do anything else for the oil to be effective. You may however speed up the process by the following methods.

Exposure to sun or ultraviolet light can speed up the healing process. It is recommended however that ultraviolet light should be used only under medical supervision.
Keep the affected areas clean and avoid applying cosmetics.
Repigmentation has been observed to be faster in healthy and active individuals than the feeble and sedentary.
We assume that you take healthy diet during the treatment. You can consult your dietitian for a diet chart.

• What do I do about new spots on other parts of my body?
As DermaTint™ is a local treatment, it will effect only the areas where you apply it. So if a new patch appears you should start applying the oil as soon as possible. The sooner you apply the oil the faster you get results.

• After how much time, should i wash off the DermaTint™ ?
The oil should not be washed earlier than 6 hours for optimal advantage. The duration can be extended up to but not more than 12 hours. If the oil has to be washed earlier than 6 hours for any pressing reason, the patient can switch to a twice daily schedule.

• What are the side effects, I feel a minor rash/itching on patches where i apply the oil?
No incidence of local or generalized side effect has yet been reported except rare complaints of short lived irritation/rash in individual with hyper-sensitive skin. That can be easily managed by making the following adjustments.

1) Dilute the oil:
The oil can be diluted in coconut oil, in the ratio of 3:1. that means 1 part of pure coconut oil to 3 parts of DermaTint™. If the irritation persists despite this measure, further dilution can be attempted with a similar quantity of pure coconut oil. This may be regarded as the maximum possible dilution.

2) Reduce total time of application:
If the dilution strategy fails to control the irritation, the duration of daily application of DermaTint™ can also be reduced. There has been success by starting the treatment with a three hours application everyday. This duration is then gradually increased to 6 hours over a period of 3 to 4 weeks. This may slowly desensitize the skin.

3) Reduce the frequency of application:
An other option is to decrease the frequency of application. This may be used alone or in combination of afore mentioned measures. The frequency is halved in the beginning and gradually brought back to standard schedule.

4) if the irritation can not be controlled with the above measures: it is preferable to discontinue the treatment. Expert help may be sought if necessary.

• How to apply DermaTint™?
Clean the affected area with plain water and towel it dry. Now apply the oil on the affected skin and gently massage it with your finger tips till is absorbed into the skin.

• How long will it take my order to be delivered?
Orders are usually dispatched next day if received before 1PM UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), except Sundays. Orders received after 1PM UTC are shipped 2nd day. Orders are sent by DHL, and are delivered within 6-9 days. Any delay in shipping will be notified to you by e-mail. We cannot anticipate delays due to custom clearance. Such delays will only be notified if shipment is delayed for over one week.
